Pierre Gasly leaves AlphaTauri to Alpine a better driver, and for that the Frenchman credits the Faenza-based squad after six seasons with them.

Gasly came through the Red Bull junior driver program was was drafted into AlphaTauri when it was still called Toro Rosso back in 2017 for the final five races replacing Daniil Kvyat.
He was called into Red Bull to replace Daniel Ricciardo in 2019, but only lastes 12 races alongside Max Verstappen failing to meet the expectations of the team's management after which he was sent back to Faenza.
It wasn't a bad move after all as Gasly found his mojo again, taking a podium in Brazil in 2019, while in 2020, he became a race winner victorious at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. He also took a podium in Baku in 2021.
Gasly finished his final race with AlphaTauri, the 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 14th, as the team ended a tough season down in ninth only bettering Williams.
"Yeah, we tried. But tonight, I don’t have much to say," Gasly was quoted saying by Formula 1'a official website after the race in Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi season finale reflects AlphaTauri's season

"It reflects our season which was difficult. But I know we never stopped fighting until the end, and until these last few laps. At the end of the day, I will more remember these past five years from my first race in Malaysia back in 2017 till now," he added.
"I know a lot has changed on my side, on the team side, they’ve been doing a very strong job over the last few years, and I think the way they’ve developed has been really impressive and I’ve really enjoyed the journey. That is what I will remember," the 26-year-old insisted.
"I can clearly say that now I am a better driver thanks to them," he revealed, "and I think we have had an amazing time together, so definitely going to feel strange not to see these similar faces next year.
"But then I will keep with me close to my heart all these people and carry with me all these amazing memories," Gasly concluded.
