Formula 1 bosses 'invade' 10 Downing Street

Formula 1 teams based in England or with a significant presence in the country include Alpine, Aston Martin, McLaren, Mercedes, Red Bull and Williams, while Haas - although they are a US team - also have a base in the UK.

Their F1 team principals met with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and No 10 advisers, which included Culture, Media and Sport secretary Lucy Frazer.

High on the agenda was how to deal with potential protests by Just Stop Oil, following an ill-advised protest on the track during the British Grand Prix last year. Race organisers and Wimbledon officials were also on hand to prevent such disruptions during the height of the British sports season.

Also among the subjects discussed during the meeting was the form of Sir Lewis Hamilton, the Briton is the holder of just about every F1 record including 103 Grand Prix victories and 103 pole position starts, as well as his record seven F1 world titles he shares with F1 legend Micahel Schumacher.

But, the 38-year-old is going through the longest winless streak in his illustrious career, as Mercedes dropped the ball of dominance they carried for almost a decade, but bad decisions and a bad car have them catching up to Red Bull who now dominate as the Mercs once did.

Wolff assured the table: "Lewis Hamilton is clearly the most important personality in our sport, he is so multi-dimensional. He's not only a racing driver and World Champion but he is also trailblazing for diversity and sustainability.

"There are no limits for Lewis Hamilton as an entrepreneur as a politician. I think he is one of the most spectacular personalities and characters I've ever met. We owe him an eighth championship," declared Wolff.
