Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas is paying homage to Mika Hakkinen using a special tribute helmet, based on the design used by the fellow Finn, for the Monaco Grand Prix weekend.
Hakkinen enjoyed a decade in Formula 1 winning two world titles in 1998 and 1999 with McLaren powered by Mercedes, winning 20 grands prix during the course of his career, including Monaco in 1998.
Traditionally some drivers wear special tribute helmets at select events, Monaco is a popular place to unleash a special design. In the past Kimi Raikkonen has worn a James Hunt lookalike helmet, Jean-Eric Vergne paid tribute to Jean Alesi and Marcus Ericsson has worn a Ronnie Peterson replica.
