Esteban Ocon has been disqualified from qualifying for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix after his Haas failed a post-session technical inspection.

Frenchman, Ocon who had was P18 after being knocked out in Q1, was found to have an illegal rear wing assembly on the Haas by race stewards on Saturday evening local time, after Qualifying in Baku.
FIA officials reported that Ocon’s car failed the rear wing plane tip deflection test, with the distance between the two sections of the RV-RW profiles and the RV-RW tip inboard of Y=525 varying beyond the permitted 0.5mm tolerance. Measurements showed 0.6mm on the left side and 0.825mm on the right. The calibration of the measuring equipment was verified and deemed valid.
The stewards explained that Haas accepted the test procedure had been followed and attributed the discrepancy to a production issue with the assembly of the specific part.
However, the ruling was clear: “The Stewards determine that the vehicle does not comply with the regulations and hence impose the usual penalty of disqualification from the Qualifying Classifications.”
Ocon will now start from the back of the grid on Sunday, further compounding a difficult weekend for Haas after teammate Ollie Bearman also crashed out in Q2.
