Poorly performing Aston Martin driver Lance Stroll has withdrawn from Sunday's 2025 Spanish Grand Prix, a painful wrist cited as the reason for pulling out of the race.

Aston Martin released a brief late-night statement on Stroll's condition: "Over the course of the past six weeks Lance has been experiencing pain in his hand and wrist, which his medical consultant believes is in relation to the procedure he underwent in 2023.
"As a result his medical team have confirmed that he will not race tomorrow and he will undergo a procedure to rectify these issues before focusing on his recovery."
Earlier, after Qualifying P14 in Barcelona on Saturday, Stroll made no mention of the injury when he reported: "It's been a tough weekend for us so far – the car hasn't been easy to handle all weekend and it's been challenging to put clean laps together.
"Nevertheless, we made it through to Q2 and we take any small wins we can get at the moment. We have lots of areas of the car that we need to look into and improve, but we'll see what we can do tomorrow starting from P14," concluded the Canadian.
Stroll is enduring a dismal season, his ninth in Formula 1. He has the dubious 'record' as the most eliminated driver in Q1 history with 78 exits. He has also been outqualified by Fernando Alonso in 21 consecutive races, Barcelona today included.
