First trailer for Brad Pitt’s F1 movie unveiled ahead of 2025 season opener The highly anticipated F1 movie starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris has released its first official trailer ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 season opener in Australia this weekend.
The F1 film, directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, is set to hit cinemas this summer. Developed by the filmmakers behind Top Gun: Maverick, the action-packed feature also features Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, and Kim Bodnia.
The 2-minute 28-second trailer introduces audiences to Sonny Hayes, played by Brad Pitt—a former F1 driver once heralded as “the greatest that never was.” Hayes was a rising star in the 1990s until a serious accident derailed his career.
Three decades later, he is a nomadic racer-for-hire when his former teammate, Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), now the owner of a struggling Formula 1 team, persuades him to return to the grid. Hayes is paired alongside Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), the team’s ambitious young rookie determined to make his own mark.
As the engines fire up, the stakes intensify, and Hayes soon discovers that in Formula 1, a driver’s fiercest competition is often their own teammate. His journey to redemption proves to be as perilous as the sport itself.
The film was shot during actual Formula 1 Grand Prix weekends, with full cooperation from Formula 1, the FIA, all 10 teams, race promoters, and the wider F1 community, ensuring an unparalleled level of authenticity.
