2025 F1 World Championship Overview

2025 f1 calendar and tracks-graphic
The 2025 FIA Formula 1 World Championship is set to be the 76th edition of the sport’s premier racing series, with a 24-race calendar spanning the globe.
Sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the governing body of international motorsport, the championship will once again represent the highest level of competition for open-wheel racing. The season is scheduled to begin in March and conclude in December, maintaining the extended race calendar format introduced in recent years.
Further details on team line-ups, regulation changes, and potential venue adjustments are expected in the coming months as Formula 1 prepares for another competitive season.
The 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship is set to be the final season under the current power unit regulations, with significant technical changes on the horizon for 2026. The V6 turbo-hybrid engines introduced in 2014 will be used for the last time before Formula 1 transitions to a revised power unit configuration, featuring the removal of the MGU-H and an increased energy recovery output from the MGU-K.
The season will also be the last to feature the current generation of ground-effect cars, which were introduced in 2022. From 2026, Formula 1 will adopt active aerodynamics and moveable wings, bringing an end to the Drag Reduction System (DRS), which has been used as an overtaking aid since 2011.
Reigning F1 Drivers’ Champion Max Verstappen will seek to defend his title, while McLaren-Mercedes enter the season as the reigning Constructors’ Champions. Meanwhile, 2025 will mark Renault’s final year as an active engine supplier for its Alpine team, with the French manufacturer set to discontinue power unit production post-season.
As Formula 1 prepares for this transitional phase, teams and drivers will be focused on maximising performance before the sport ushers in a new era of regulations in 2026.
