Ferrari have granted Carlos Sainz permission to test for Williams at the Abu Dhabi end-of-season Formula 1 test, giving the Spaniard a chance to get an early impression of his new team.

Sainz was sacrificed by Ferrari to make way for Lewis Hamilton, who will move to be Charles Leclerc's teammate at the famous Scuderia. Wanted by several teams, the 30-year-old Spaniard opted for Williams.
Williams Racing - once one of the mightiest F1 teams - today announced in a press release: "Williams Racing is pleased to announce today that Carlos Sainz will join the team for the upcoming Abu Dhabi end-of-season test, marking the first steps in his preparations for the 2025 season. This early opportunity will allow both Carlos and Williams to begin building their relationship.
"The test session will provide a valuable chance for Carlos to begin integrating into his new team environment, and he will drive the FW46 for the first time. Carlos will drive for Williams alongside Alex Albon in 2025, forming one of the most formidable driver line-ups on the grid."
Sainz made his F1 debut at the 2015 Australian Grand Prix, and has since been well-travelled, with stints at Toro Rosso, Renault, McLaren, Ferrari and now Williams. This is his fourth season with the Scuderia which runs until 31 December 2024.
