Inside Line: GRANDPRIX247 Facebook page hijacked and hacked

hacked grandprix247

Dear Readers, we have had a baffling and desperate 24 hours with our Facebook page – with over 40,000 active fans – after it was compromised by scammers/hackers.

I personally was tapped up through Facebook Business Suite by ‘partners’ with legitimate Facebook credentials to monetise posts on our GRANDPRIX247 page. Being an apparently legitimate offer, with emails etc backing up their credibility, they provided links to Facebook admin pages.

I followed the instructions and in a nutshell at around 5:00am CET they somehow took ownership of the page, and removed myself and Jad Mallak from the admin access with them somehow taking ownership of the page that for over a decade owned, serviced and maintained by us.

They then went on to post inappropriate stories with pictures depicting nudity that are now popping up on the timelines of the page subscribers/fans.

hacked hijacked

Facebook support has been approached and of course, need to do due diligence and ascertain it is in fact I who own the account and requested a series of documents and a report on how the hijack transpired.

I believe Facebook will get to the bottom of this, and hope they do so rapidly before the hackers/hijackers do proper damage.

As this impacts YOU our readers, legitimate partners and the entire morale of our small team, this post is for readers to be aware of our report to Facebook in the open-source style that has been the ethos of this site. Full transparency.

And furthermore, it is also fishing for anyone who can assist or has experience with such matters, please contact us, while also urging our colleagues on other websites to be wary of such approaches no matter how legitimate they appear. Be wary folks!

a) I, Paul Velasco (ID provided) confirm that I am the editor of GRANDPRIX247 as shown on our website credits here:

The site started as YallaF1 but we changed the name to GRANDPRIX247Throughout we had a Facebook page initially for YallaF1 which we renamed to GRANDPrix247

Here myself and the editors over the years, now Jad Mallak, have solely posted on the FB pages links to posts we produce on the website.

I have personally paid for ads etc as the records show my Paypal was also used to pay fees since this site began.

b) The first contact that was made was from a user on my inbox in FB Meta Business Suite. Prior to this we had never heard of the guy.

He sends me the details via email (provided to Facebook) which outlines the scam from the first email to the last between me and the hacker/hijacker.

In a nutshell, it involves some apparently legitimate links to click and pages to add in FB Business Suite. Which I did in good faith only to find in the morning today the page was claimed by Adil Marketing and we were dismissed as admins (Paul Velasco and Jad Mallak) only reinstated in our first support correspondence with FB support.

But tragically and of huge concern, Jad and I are again blocked as admins despite being reinstated by Facebook during an early support call shortly after the hijack was a reality.

So all I want is to be reinstated as the owner of the page so no one can ever claim it again.

c) Screengrab of my Paypal payments to Facebook in last three months

d) I hereby certify and declare that the information I have provided you is truthful and sincere. The pain suffered by this emotion was extensive as we pride ourselves on our FB page. I assure you that we have never had dealings with these people/person until they tapped us up and deviously tricked us, very professionally I may add as you can see with the correspondence attached.

This appears to be a scam of sorts with a mysterious endgame.

I trust you will use this as a case study because I am stumped and humiliated how a couple of links and a smooth con caught me out as it did. I hope this can serve as a lesson or at least highlight the type of scams that catch relatively internet savvy people such as me and my partner Jad who I Have CC-ed with this email.

For me, first prize is to be reinstated as the owner of the GRANDPRIX247 page, and Jason Rick, as well as his partners Adil Market and Red page below, are banned or sanctioned for this fraud.

Yours sincerely

Paul Velasco – Editor
