Formula 1 officially extended its agreement to promote and stage the Las Vegas Grand Prix through 2027, following confirmation of a two-year extension to the current deal.

The race on the fabled Strip. which returned to the Formula 1 calendar in 2023, is uniquely promoted by Formula 1 itself, and the sport remains committed to further developing the Las Vegas event in the coming years.
“We’ve agreed collectively that we’re going to do a two-year extension for 2026 and ’27,” said Emily Prazer, president and CEO of the Las Vegas Grand Prix and chief commercial officer of Formula 1. “We want to make sure that we’re continuing to evolve what we’re doing. But the intent is a much longer-term arrangement.”
Prazer acknowledged the early operational challenges that came with reviving the Grand Prix but emphasised that both the sport and the city are aligned on long-term ambitions. “As we all know, the race has had its challenges, but we’re coming out the other side.
"So we want to make sure that it continues to work for both sides. So collectively, we sat down and agreed that was the best approach. We’re very much planning longer-term, but that’s kind of where we’re at right now," added Prazer.
George Russell won the race in 2024, leading a Mercedes one-two ahead of Lewis Hamilton. Max Verstappen clinched his fourth consecutive Formula 1 World Championship with a measured drive to fifth, securing the title by finishing ahead of Lando Norris.
Carlos Sainz and Leclerc finished third and fourth. Norris claimed fastest lap but was sixth, ahead of Piastri. Sergio Perez finished 10th for Red Bull.

How much longer for Formula 1 on the streets of Las Vegas?

Las Vegas is a Grand Prix on the calendar, with Formula 1 acting as its own promoter – a role usually filled by third-party organisers or local governments. When the event was first announced, a decade-long “commitment” was part of the plan, suggesting strong foundations for a lasting presence.
The financial benefits of hosting the race have also been made clear. The 2024 edition of the Las Vegas Grand Prix generated $934 million in total revenue according to its official economic impact analysis. The race drew an attendance of 306,000 people over the weekend, including 175,000 visitors from outside the region – making it the city’s largest recurring event.
For Las Vegas itself, the Grand Prix has had a dramatic economic effect. November, historically only the eighth-best month in terms of local revenue, became the highest-grossing month in the city’s history during the race weekend.
“The length of extensions doesn’t really reflect anything, other than it just makes sense incrementally, we know what’s going to happen over the next couple of years,” said Steve Hill, president of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.
“We’re planning on this being a permanent race, we’ll just keep planning extensions that will probably expand as we go forward. It just has an impact that we aren't able to replicate on an annual basis for anything else. Nothing else has actually changed," explained Hill.
While the extension only formally runs through 2027, all indications point to Las Vegas remaining a long-term fixture on the Formula 1 calendar well into the next decade.
