Williams, according to media reports are facing a $100-Million lawsuit filed against them by their former marketing executive Claudia Schwarz.
A report in
The Times claimed that the British Formula 1 team is being sued by their former employee, Claudia Schwarz who claims she has been forcefully pushed out of her job while adding that the team attempted to tarnish her reputation with claims of fraud and adultery.
Schwarz claims Williams have leaked news of an alleged affair she was having with former CEO of Dorilton Capital - Williams Racing's owners - Darren Fultz, something she denied. Fultz himself was reportedly let go from his job following investors expressing their dissatisfaction with
Williams' on track performances.
Schwarz was fired as the Marketing Manager of Williams just after one year on the job following reported budget cuts following the aforementioned complains by investors.
Schwarz's lawyer, Jeremy Friedman, said in a statement: "This lawsuit will bring to light what we contend are false public statements made by Dorilton and Williams about Schwarz and her company that we believe have been done in a calculated effort to avoid both contractual obligations and to put pressure on Schwarz to stay quiet and not defend herself.
"They believed Schwarz would not fight back and defend herself, her companies and her reputation. She is fighting back," Friedman added.
Williams, on the other hand, have filed a counter lawsuit against Schwarz with a $6.9-Million claim, accusing their former employee of abusing her position within the team to award contracts to suppliers with personal connections to her. The team also claimed Schwarz's husband Axel Ludwig is also involved in the alleged fraud scheme.
Williams reportedly claimed that Schwarz had started the alleged affair with Fultz in a bid to lure the former Dorilton executive to allow "inaccurate and overinflated invoices and improper credit card charges".
