News regarding Formula 1 on the FIA website is scarce, to say the least, ahead of the 2015 FIA Formula 1 World Championship season with the 'latest news' today [Thursday] 6am GMT (5pm Melbourne time) being: Bottas fastest on final day of testing.
The first mention of the Australian Grand Prix finally emerged on the website on Thursday 7am GMT (6pm Melbourne time) - namely the transcript of the drivers press conference.
On the actual F1 dedicated pages on the site, the main banners featured images of Lewis Hamilton winning the world title in Abu Dhabi, and even the Brazilian Grand Prix race report can still be read if anyone missed it or still cares - as if nothing of importance has happened in Formula 1 (even in an official basis) since then.
Normally the FIA media office releases an informative, albeit unspectacular, preview of each grand prix. However in their wisdom they make into a image file so that information cannot be copy-pasted - a bizarre ploy to hamper journalists seeking to use information on the event from the official source, all of which gives weight to accusations that Formula 1 is being promoted dark ages style.
Interestingly the WEC, WTCC, Formula-E and WRC information and news releases are of the highest order and frequent.
So from the Grand Prix 247 editorial team to the FIA media lay-abouts: get off your asses and do some work to promote the fact that the F1 world championship kicks off in Melbourne this weekend!
We wonder what FIA big boss Jean Todt has to say about the state of affairs in his organisation's media department...
