Ferrari CEO Benedetto confirmed that Lewis Hamilton will finally be at Maranello next week, kickstarting Formula 1's most anticipated and much talked about union between the sport's most succesful team and driver.
Hamilton to Ferrari shocked the sporting world when the announcement was made last year on 1 February. After a long goodbye from Mercedes and his worst season in Formula 1, nearly a year since then Sir Lewis will finally don the iconic Red of the Scuderia.
“There is a lot of excitement, a great desire to begin,” Vigna declared during an event in Milan, confirming Lewis Hamilton’s arrival at Maranello next week.
The seven-time world champion, who recently concluded his celebrated career with Mercedes, is set to embark on a new chapter with Ferrari, joining the team ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 season.
Hamilton’s transition to Ferrari has been one of the sport’s most anticipated moves, and Vigna offered an update on the plans for the Briton’s red debut: Lewis will be with us at Ferrari next week. We are preparing the last things.”
The visit to Maranello will see Hamilton tour the iconic Ferrari factory before taking to the Fiorano circuit for his first laps in a Ferrari. While the session will involve driving an older model rather than next season’s car, it will symbolise Hamilton’s official introduction to Ferrari’s operations.
Hamilton’s arrival will mark the beginning of a partnership expected to redefine the competitive landscape of Formula 1. Teaming up with Charles Leclerc, the duo is already being hailed as one of the strongest pairings on the grid for 2025.
Vigna also reflected on the significance of the moment, expressing the team’s readiness for the challenges ahead: “There is a lot of expectation. We are ready for almost everything. We’ll make sure everything else is in place.”
Hamilton’s decision to join Ferrari underscores
the allure of the Prancing Horse and signals his ambition to secure an elusive eighth world championship title as his storied career approaches its twilight years. With just days to go, this promises to be a pivotal moment in the history of both driver and team.
