In the aftermath of the first lap collision at the start of the Malaysian Grand Prix, triggered by Sebastian Vettel's locked-up which in turn tagged the Mercedes of Nico Rosberg, the Ferrari driver called the world championship leader to apologise.
Rosberg said in a You Tube video,"Sebastian has just called me to apologise and it is a nice thing. This will obviously not bring back the points I lost, but it was still a gesture which I appreciated."
The incident resulted in Vettel retiring on the spot and Rosberg facing the wrong way and at the back of the field. He recovered well to finish third.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen was also involved in the incident and called Vettel "crazy" over the radio. The Dutch teenager finished second behind race winner and teammate Daniel Ricciardo.
Vettel was penalised by the race stewards for causing the collision and will drop three grid positions at the next Grand Prix, in Japan, this Sunday.
