Much was made of the fact that Max Verstappen ditched his usual entourage and travelled to Montreal for the Canadian Grand Prix solo, by Sunday night the young Dutchman returned home clutching the third-placed trophy and ending a streak of incidents that have cost him this season.
After the race in Canada, even Red Bull team chief alluded to the absence of Verstappen's people as a reason for his return to form and the podium a result of more linear focus.
Speaking to reporters in France, Verstappen played down any suggestion that he was not focused,“I was! Before as well. There were less people around, I could speak to less people."
But acknowledged, "Of course, maybe I have a few minutes extra to talk to my engineers instead of others, but it doesn’t make a difference to me."
“They were here also when I was winning races, so I don’t think there is something behind it. It was just a weekend alone. I mean I am 20 years old, they don’t need to hold my hand,” added Verstappen.
Big Question: Should Max ditch the entourage?
