Fred Vasseur hopes Ferrari can head into the Formula 1 summer shutdown with momentum, as the team prepares for the 2025 Hungarian Grand Prix at the demanding Hungaroring circuit.
“In the last few races, we’ve made progress in terms of competitiveness, and in
Belgium, thanks to a lot of hard work back in Maranello, we introduced an upgrade package that further improved our performance,” said Vasseur, in the Ferrari preview of the Hungary weekend ahead..
“Before the mandatory summer shutdown, we have one more race, the Hungarian Grand Prix, where we want to continue moving forward. It will be interesting to see how the updated SF-25 performs on a completely different track, twisty, with plenty of medium and low-speed corners.
"Charles and Lewis are both in good form, and the team is also performing well. We want to head into the break with another strong result," declared the Ferrari boss.
This weekend marks the 40th running of the Hungarian Grand Prix, which has been held at the Hungaroring every year since 1986.
Hungaroring will be an interesting test for the updated Ferrari SF-25
Located just outside Budapest, the 4.381-kilometre circuit is narrow and twisty, often likened to an oversized karting track due to its relentless sequence of corners and lack of long straights.
With only two DRS zones—on the main straight and between turns 1 and 2—overtaking is notoriously difficult, placing an even greater premium on qualifying. Track position is expected to be decisive, as drivers wrestle with low-speed traction and limited margin for error across the lap.
Hungary’s typical mid-summer heat will also be a major factor this weekend. Thermal degradation will play a key role, with high air and track temperatures expected to challenge tyre longevity and mechanical reliability. Teams will need to manage heat in the power units and gearboxes, with the latter enduring around 78 gear changes per lap.
A strong aerodynamic package and precise car balance will be essential to prevent excessive sliding and to preserve tyre life through the critical middle phase of the race.
According to their own PR: "Ferrari enters the Belgian Grand Prix weekend aiming to build on its solid Belgian performance and lock in a solid result heading into the summer break."
