Mercedes boss Toto Wolff is not happy with the way his team have been performing recently and is hoping to change that starting from this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix.

Mercedes never appeared to be on top of the current ground-effect Formula 1 cars since they debuted back in 2022, and while they have improved since then, they have been inconsistent at best with a car that works well in cooler conditions.
But even since the team brought a suspension upgrade to the Austrian Grand Prix, results have not been coming their way, with their rookie Kimi Antonelli struggling, dropping back in terms of performance after a promising start to the season, which peaked with his podium in Montreal.
George Russell has recently struggled as well with the W16, which now doesn't seem to work in cool conditions, with the latest Belgian Grand Prix proof of that, as the Briton struggled to compete at the sharp end in qualifying, finishing the Grand Prix an anonymous fifth, while Antonelli was 17th.
Heading into the final race before the summer break, Wolff is acknowledging that his team has issues to sort out but hoping to head into the break on a high.
"After a tough weekend in Belgium, we are looking to put in a more competitive showing in Hungary," he said. "Our performances in recent races have not been up to our standards, and we have work planned to both understand why that has been and get on top of it this weekend.
"The team has been flat out in the days since Spa to optimize this work as we look to head into the summer shutdown with a positive result in Budapest," the Austrian concluded.
Mercedes are currently third in the 2025 F1 Constructors' standings, 296 points down on leaders, McLaren.
