Formula 1 and the FIA confirmed on Monday that the 2026 season will feature three pre-season tests as the sport will debut a fully overhauled regulation set.
Formula 1 will introduce totally new car for the 2026 seasons. These cars will feature new chassis with less reliance on ground effect and active aero.
The power units will also be totally new with the MGU-H component gone and more reliance on electric power. The power units will produce power from the Internal Combustion Engine and the electric component on the basis of a 50-50 ratio.
As such, the team will naturally require more time to dial in their new machines and get to understand them so three pre-season tests have been confirmed.
A joint statement between the FIA and Formula 1 was issued on Monday that said: "FIA and Formula 1 are today announcing the 2026 pre-season testing dates. In 2026 there will be three tests:
1- Test one will be a private test and will take place at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya between 26 -30 January.
2- Test two will take place at the Bahrain international Circuit between 11-13 February.
3- Test three will take place at the Bahrain international Circuit between 18–20 February."
There 2026 F1 season calendar
was initially issued earlier in June, but it has now been revised with a change in date for the 2026 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The statement explained: "We can also confirm that following a request from the Azerbaijan promoter and relevant government stakeholders, FIA and Formula 1 have agreed to move the 2026 Azerbaijan Grand Prix from Sunday 27th September to Saturday 26th to accommodate a national day.
"All the F1 teams have been informed of this change, which will mean each day of the event will move one day earlier."
