In a shocking announcement (excuse the sarcasm), Aston Martin confirmed today that Lance Stroll will continue driving for them in the 2025 Formula 1 season and beyond.

And so Stroll's free pass in F1 continues, despite the lack of performance or results, and he will continue to drive for the team his father resides over as Executive Chairman.
Aston Martin insisted the Canadian "has played an important role in the Aston Martin project since he first joined the Silverstone-based team in 2019" while stressing on his experience of "more than 150 F1 starts" reminding us again of the "three podiums to his name".
Commenting on the announcement, Stroll said: "I'm super happy to have committed to staying with the team for 2025 and beyond. It's amazing to see how far we've come in the last five years; we've grown so much as a team and there's still so much more to look forward to."
Aston Martin Team Principal Mike Krack added: "We are delighted to confirm Lance's future with Aston Martin Aramco.
"He has played a key role in building this team. His technical feedback, alongside his committed simulator work, has helped contribute to the continuous development of the car each season. The consistency and stability of both Lance and Fernando remaining with our team is a great platform to continue to realise our ambitions.
"We look forward to creating some more incredible memories and achieving further success together," Krack concluded.
Stroll will drive alongside double F1 Champion Fernando Alonso who was also confirmed with Aston Martin earlier in 2024 as driver for the 2025 season and beyond.
Stroll is currently 11th in the 2024 F1 Drivers' Standings with 17 points as Alonso sits in ninth with 41 points, as Aston Martin endure a tough campaign and are fifth in the Constructors' Championship.
