A party sponsored by controversial Sugarbook dating platform linking "sugar babies" with old and wealthy male suitors, through their App has, been cancelled ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix-related events.
The Straits Times reports: "The Singapore Tourism Board director of sports Jean Ng confirmed that the board and the organiser of the Sky Grande Prix party, have mutually agreed that the event will no longer be part of the Grand Prix Season Singapore campaign this year."
The Sugarbook dating app, a Malaysian version of Tinder matches "sugar babies" with older, wealthier men and claims over 200,000 members use the App.
The report added: "Sugarbook is one of the co-sponsors of the Sky Grande Prix, a party that will be held at a bar in the Grand Hyatt Singapore hotel from 12 to 16 September."
The event is being held at the Martini Bar, the Italian drinks company a sponsor of the Williams team, which boasts having won various awards for being the best bar in Singapore.
The hotel, and many like it, will be packed with Singapore Grand Prix fans, many single males flying in on package deals from Europe, Australia and the Middle East to attend the race weekend.
Sugarbook said in a statement last month it was planning to use the parties during grand prix week and weekend to attract more users to the platform and provide "partygoers a better insight into the world of sugar dating."
A spokesperson for Vanilla Luxury, the organisers of the parties said, "Our brand looks to create diverse experiences for audiences at its events, and that it reaches out to brands that are aligned with this. It added that the Sky Grande Prix party is not an event only for Sugarbook, and is not organised by the dating platform."
"This year, Sugarbook is only one of our many partners. In every event and relationship, compliance with the law is mandatory. We are committed to providing a world-class experience in Singapore."
The Singapore Grand Prix weekend, Round 15 of the 2018 F1 World Championship, takes place at the Marina Bay Circuit from Friday 14th to Sunday 16th September.
