Sauber announced on Tuesday the launch of their new technical center based in the United Kingdom as another step towards becoming the Audi Formula 1 factory team.
The latest development in Sauber's transformation into Audi's F1 factory team comes after the German car manufacturer
completed the full acquisition of Sauber back in January 2025.
While the team's Hinwil base will continue to serve as the headquarters for the team, the new technical center in the UK will allow Sauber/Audi F1 to tap into the British F1 talent pool that would be hesitant to relocate to Switzerland.
The Audi F1 power unit will continue to be developed and produced in Neuburg, Germany.
A statement by the team said: "Sauber Motorsport is taking a major step in its transition to become the Audi F1 factory team, competing in the 2026 FIA Formula One World Championship, by establishing a new technical centre in the UK.
"The Sauber Motorsport Technology Centre UK will extend the team's presence and influence within the global Formula One landscape. The Technology Centre provides the team with access to the world's largest motorsport expertise and talent pool.
"Recognised as the birthplace of Formula One, the UK is home to most F1 teams and around 25,000 industry professionals," the statement added. "By creating this new facility, Sauber Motorsport aims to strengthen its presence in 'Motorsport Valley' and establish a platform to collaborate with top experts and attract local engineering talent for the Audi F1 Project.
"This initiative is a key component of the Audi F1 Project's long-term strategy to enhance and expand its technical capabilities.
"Sauber Motorsport is currently evaluating potential locations within 'Motorsport Valley, including Bicester, Silverstone, and Milton Keynes. The goal is to have the UK Technical Centre operational by summer 2025," the statement concluded.
Mattia Binotto, COO and CTO of Sauber Motorsport, stated: "We are excited to establish our technical centre in the UK to complement our key sites in Hinwil and Neuburg, which will continue to lead our main engineering operations and experience the largest team growth.
"Expanding into the UK allows us to remain close to one of the world's most dynamic motorsport ecosystems. Our vision is to create a strong, collaborative network across Hinwil and the UK, driving innovation and performance," he concluded.
