Rosberg: I went in deep which is fine because I dictate

Nico Rosberg looked set for his sixth win of the season at the Austrian Grand Prix, but a last lap collision with his teammate and eventual winner, Lewis Hamilton, dropped the German down to fourth place and afterwards hinted that his fellow Mercedes driver was the one to blame.

On the final Hamilton managed to get a good run out of Turn 1 and had his nose ahead as the pair went into Turn 2. Rosberg, apparently suffering with brake issues, missed his braking mark and turning in point, going straight as Hamilton swooped around the otuside.

The pair touched and the resulting contact disintegrated the front wing on Rosberg's car, while Hamilton was unscathed and powered on to victory, while Rosberg limped home in fourth place.

Speaking to media after a dramatic race at Red Bull Ring, Rosberg said, "I am absolutely gutted, it is unbelievable. I was sure to win that race and then I lost it on the last lap. It is pretty intense."

"We were battling and I was struggling a little bit with my brakes because they got a bit hot in the end and my tyre were degrading, so that gave Lewis a chance and nevertheless I was hoping I could defend and bring it home."

"I had the inside position, a strong position and I went a bit deep into the corner which is fine because I dictate [the move] and I was very surprised that Lewis turned in and it caused a collision. I am absolutely gutted."

FIA race stewards announced three hours after the chequered flag had waved that Rosberg was in the wrong and gave him a ten seconds penalty, which in the end did not affect his fourth place finish. Report here>>>

But Rosberg was unhappy with the outcome and said in a Facebook video: "They gave me the blame, which sucks. I respect that, but I am of a different opinion. But that doesn't help."
