Nico Rosberg started the 2016 Formula 1 season with four wins in a row and looking untouchable as he powered to a 43 points lead in the championship, fast forward a couple of months and the Mercedes driver lies now second in the standings and his world title charge in jeopardy.
Despite this reversal of fortune Rosberg warns that his best will emerge amid the adversity, "I have enough evidence from myself to show that I am always strongest after difficult moments, time and time again. So no issues there."
Rosberg needs to beat his teammate and nemesis, Lewis Hamilton to claim his first F1 world championship, not a task for the faint-hearted.
"Lewis doesn't just seem strong in recent grands prix, Lewis is strong [all the time]," insisted Rosberg. "There's a big difference there and there is always going to be a battle against him."
Winning at home is always one of the highlights of a driver's career and in Germany recently Rosberg did the business in qualifying, but in the race failed to deliver and watched while Hamilton scooped maximum points. The fact it happened at Hockenheim added insult to injury for the German.
He reflected, "I'm very disappointed because I had an awesome qualifying and I was feeling good with good race pace on Friday. I was really optimistic in thinking I could bring it home, so I'm just very disappointed that everything went wrong."
Thus the stage is set for an intriguing second half of the season which will no doubt be dominated by another episode of Rosberg versus Hamilton.
The big question is can Rosberg overcome and win the world title? Time will tell...
