2016 Formula 1 world champion Nico Rosberg has urged his fellow delegates at Davos to make a difference by putting aside their phones and start turning words into actions while revealing that his own startup will be launched by next month.
Speaking at a Bloomberg event in the Swiss Alpine town, Rosberg said, “There are so many people here with great ideas, then everyone goes away, then nothing happens. Everyone is looking at their phones during panels and not listening.”
Since quitting Formula 1 in 2016, the 33-year-old has balanced his time as a regular F1 pundit for Sky and German TV as well as a
vlogger, while investing in tech startups, including the likes of Formula E, Lyft Inc. and Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
Bloomberg report that Rosberg is arguing that European pension funds should be allowed to allocate money to riskier investments, in order to boost innovation in the region.
The former Mercedes F1 driver said, “That’s one of the issues that is holding us back."
The report adds that Rosberg is also set to announce his own startup “in the next two weeks,” focusing on green technologies and the events industry, but declined to comment further.
