'Rookies' a documentary on five Formula 1 rising stars

A new 50-minute documentary, Rookies, has been released on F1TV, capturing the journey of five drivers set to make their Formula 1 debut in 2025.

The documentary follows their rise through the junior ranks of FIA Formula 3 and Formula 2, offering fans a behind-the-scenes look at how F1's latest rookies made their way to the top flight of motorsport and a slot on the grid for the famous five.
The class of 2025 features Jack Doohan at Alpine, 2024 F2 champion and 2023 F3 champion Gabriel Bortoleto at Kick Sauber, Andrea ‘Kimi’ Antonelli at Mercedes, Oliver Bearman at Haas, and 2024 F2 vice-champion Isack Hadjar at RB. Each driver’s career trajectory is explored in Rookies, detailing the challenges and triumphs that have shaped their journey to Formula 1.
The documentary provides unprecedented access to key moments in their careers, featuring never-before-seen footage and interviews with those who played a crucial role in their development. FIA Formula 2 and Formula 3 CEO Bruno Michel offers his perspective on the significance of this year’s graduating class and the role junior categories have played in preparing them for the pinnacle of motorsport.
Michel said: “I’m incredibly proud to see the progression of the 2025 Formula 1 rookies from our F3 and F2 Championships, where they have been prepared for the highest level of motorsport. They have all fought exceptionally hard for their positions on the F1 grid.

"It is a testament to their commitment, to the level of preparation provided by our Championships, and to the support of the F2 and F3 teams, that they have reached the pinnacle of motorsport. I wish Gabriel, Isack, Oliver, Andrea, and Jack the very best for the future," concluded Michel.
The influx of five new drivers marks one of the most significant rookie intakes in recent F1 history. Ian Holmes, Formula 1’s Director of Media Rights and Content Creation, highlighted the importance of this moment: “This year is truly unprecedented as we welcome five new drivers from Formula 2 to the Formula 1 grid.
“I am delighted that we can share the story of their careers so far as they prepare to take the step up to the pinnacle of motorsport. The drive, determination, and passion of these five rookies are a testament not only to their own talent but also to the F3 and F2 Championships, their junior teams, and their supporters. I can’t wait to see them line up on the grid in Melbourne," added Holmes.
The documentary is now available for streaming on F1TV Access and F1TV Pro, offering motorsport fans a closer look at the next generation of Formula 1 drivers before they take to the track for their debut season.
