The Red Bull-Aston Martin Valkyrie has been on the cards for some time but now, with delivery day looming, the 175 units to be built are ready to be customised to buyers' specifications
You will need to find US$3.2 million to own a basic no-frills version of the Adrian Newey penned hypercar, but if you have the loot and want something extra then your wish is their command.
Red Bull revealed on their website that Valkyrie customers can now purchase (price to be confirmed) the AMR Track Performance Pack "designed to drop lap times by around eight per cent."
The pack also includes a new aerodynamic front clam, a second set of all body panels, lightweight titanium brakes, track-focused suspension, a matte black magnesium performance wheel and carbon-fibre aero-disc set.
The report reveals that the Valkyrie can easily be swapped from street-legal to circuit-spec with the Track Performance Pack add-on, in other words: doing the shopping in the morning and in the afternoon heading for the nearest track day.
Only 150 road legal versions will be built, with owners having the option to boost performance as well as cosmetics which could easily add an extra million dollars or so to the bill. As yet no price for the Track Pack has been made available.
A further 25 track-only units are being built for racing, with a Le Mans foray in Red Bull colours an idea that is being bounced around.
Valkyrie models will be available in "Slipstream Green, Liquid Petroleum, Ethanol Silver and Maximum Orange."
At over three-million a pop a buyer also gets Formula 1 pedigree thrown into the mix as "the hybrid Valkyrie is a collaborative project designed under the leadership of Adrian Newey by Red Bull Advanced Technologies and Aston Martin."
