Lando Norris has emerged as a serious contender for the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship, with bookmakers William Hill cutting his title odds from 11/8 to 6/5 following victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix that reduced Oscar Piastri's lead to nine points.

The McLaren driver held off teammate and current championship leader Piastri at the Hungaroring to claim a crucial win in their season-long battle for a maiden world title. After 14 of 24 Rounds, Piastri, who leads Norris by just nine points, saw his odds drift slightly from 8/15 to 8/13 despite finishing second in Budapest.
Increasingly a two-man fight for the 2025 F1 title, with Max Verstappen, now a distant third in the points standings after a difficult race weekend, remains a long shot at 50/1 after finishing P9 on Sunday. The market now frames the title fight as a clear two-horse race between the McLaren pair, with just nine rounds remaining in the season.
William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps explained the odds shift: “After a thrilling Hungarian Grand Prix we had no choice but to cut Lando Norris’ Drivers’ Championship odds, as he beat teammate and Championship leader Oscar Piastri to top spot on the podium.
“The Australian driver remains our market leader at 8/13, but that price has softened from 8/15 before the weekend. Norris’ price is going the other way as we slashed him from 11/8 to 6/5 with just nine points separating the pair at the top of the standings.
“Should Norris continue his winning ways at Zandvoort at the end of the month that price will only shorten, as will his odds to be named Sports Personality of the Year, which currently stand at 10/1.”
William Hill – Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship Odds (as of August 4, 2025):
  • Oscar Piastri: 8/13
  • Lando Norris: 6/5
  • Max Verstappen: 50/1
  • Others: 200/1+
