Lando Norris described Lewis Hamilton’s decision to leave Mercedes for Ferrari as “a fascinating story” admitting he would have made the same choice if he were in the seven-time Formula 1 world champion’s position.

For Hamilton, who turns 40 this year, the move marks the latest chapter in a career that has already seen success with McLaren and Mercedes. Speaking on ITV's This Morning, 25-year-old Norris expressed his admiration for the switch, acknowledging the significance of the move to Maranello.
Norris said: "It's a great story for him to go to Ferrari after everything he has accomplished. Many people have said that it's probably not the right thing to do and so on. I would probably do the same if I were in his place. It sounds fantastic.
"I know he will want to go there with a fresh mindset and show everyone that he still has the Lewis Hamilton he has displayed all these years. We'll wait and see," Norris added.

Lando: Lewis is a competitor and I want to beat him

Hamilton's move comes as Norris prepares for another competitive season with McLaren following a landmark 2024 campaign, in which he secured his first F1 victory at the Miami Grand Prix and helped the team clinch its first Constructors' Championship in 26 years.
Looking ahead to the battles on track, Norris underlined his competitive approach: "When I'm on track, it makes no difference. Lewis is a competitor, and I want to beat him."
Hamilton’s Ferrari tenure will begin at pre-season testing in Bahrain, where he will share the garage with Charles Leclerc as the Scuderia look to challenge for their first drivers' title since 2007.
For Norris it's business as usual with Australian hotshot Oscar Piastri sharing a box with the Englishman once again, McLaren start the season favourites for both F1 titles. Not if Hamilton at Ferrari can stop it!
