Juan Pablo Montoya is backing Lando Norris to win his home Grand Prix at Silverstone this weekend, predicting a dominant performance from McLaren as Formula 1 heads into its busiest stretch of the season.

Fueled by the momentum of his most important win at the Austrian Grand Prix, and his passionate home crowd, Norris heads to Silverstone as favourite to win the race, Round 11 of the 2025 Formula 1 World Championship, where the Englishman trails his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri by 15 points. Down from 22 before his special win last Sunday at Red Bull Ring.
Speaking ahead of the British Grand Prix, seven-time F1 winner, Montoya predicted: "I think McLaren is going to be the best again in Silverstone. I think with the cooler temperatures, Mercedes is going to be better. I think Red Bull is going to run pretty well with the cooler track as well."
"Ferrari, the thing is we know McLaren is going to be on top right there but I think between Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes it's so close that you don't know who's going to be where," added the Colombian.

Montoya expects Piastri to handle any partisan Silverstone crowd with ease, and sees a potential morale boost for Lewis Hamilton in front of his home fans
He said: "The boost from the home race crowd atmosphere is normal. I think Lando's personality might help him more than hurt him. At the same time, I don't think Oscar would be bothered either way."
"I think with Lewis, it would be a really nice weekend if Lewis can beat Charles at Silverstone. I think that would be huge for Lewis," reckoned Montoya. Seven-time F1 World Champion Hamilton has won the great race nine times. This is his first race on home soil as a Ferrari driver.
But Montoya sees another Orange victory coming at Silverstone: "I think Lando is going to win. I think it's going to be a one-two for McLaren and I'm going to put Lewis on the podium in third."
Looking ahead, he said of the 'pecking order' on fast, low-downforce venues: "Ferrari seems better. I think that Mercedes has a really good, efficient car for low downforce, and I think when we get to Monza, I think it might be a good time for Kimi to win a race. That is one of his home races."
"Other than that, I think it's all so close there in the middle but the Red Bull doesn't seem to be getting any better," concluded Montoya, who won the 2005 British Grand Prix as a McLaren driver.
