Red Bull consultant Dr. Helmut Marko admitted, seeing how the team's 2023 Formula 1 season has gone so far, that winning every race is becoming the goal.
Red Bull have won all races so far in 2023, even the Sprints, with Max Verstappen winning 12 grands prix, Sergio Perez winning the other two, as the team seems to be heading towards a clean sweep this season.
If the 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is considered, Red Bull have now won 15 races in a row, breaking the previous record held by McLaren since 1988 by four wins (McLaren won 11 on the trot in 1988).
And as the current season progresses, the prospect of Red Bull winning all races is becoming more realistic, given the dominance of their RB19 and the form Verstappen is enjoying, the Dutchman himself breaking the record of most consecutive wins per season, after
his tenth triumph at Monza, surpassing Sebastian Vettel's nine consecutive wings from 2013.
Speaking to
Motorsport.com, Marko was asked about Red Bull's chances of winning every race in 2023, he said: "First of all our goal is to secure the world championships.
"But let's say if we win in Singapore, then the chance is there that we can win all the races. Of course, it is becoming a goal now," he added. "In the beginning of the season, it was not realistic to win all the races and it has never happened before."
Since 2019, Monza was won by Charles Leclerc, Pierre Gasly, Daniel Ricciardo, and Verstappen. However the first three retired when returning to the Italian track the year after they won, triggering talks about the "Monza Curse".
"McLaren was stopped here [Monza], so the press constructed a story that the curse would hit us as well, but we didn't let it hit us," Marko commented.
Will Singapore be a tough race for Red Bull?
While Ferrari, with Carlos Sainz, challenged Red Bull and Verstappen at Monza, Singapore might be the toughest challenger for the Milton Keynes outfit, a race Verstappen did not enjoy in 2022, while Perez won it.
"Like every race, we have had a competitive car everywhere so why should that not be the case in Singapore?" the Austrian said.
"But I have to say Ferrari and especially Leclerc is a specialist around there. If they are faster in qualifying, then it could become a problem for us because overtaking in Singapore is very difficult.
"But I'm still optimistic that the package we are bringing to Singapore is good enough to win," Marko concluded.
Christian Horner, on the other hand, was a bit more cautious in his approach to the "win every race in 2023 debate".
He said: "There are so many elements, whether it's reliability, whether it's luck, whether it's strategy, whether it's a pitstop, whether it's pace. Weather - there are so many elements.
"You've got to stay on top of your game, and I think that's what, for me, that's the most remarkable achievement this year so far is that we haven't dropped the ball," he added. "We've managed to keep operating at an incredibly high level, and that's something that's not been seen before."
"I think for the whole team, everything that we're doing at the moment, we're making history. It's not often you get the chance to do that," Horner concluded.
Red Bull lead the 2023 Constructors' Championship by 310 points from Mercedes with eight races remaining this season.
