Stoffel Vandoorne's future on the Formula 1 grid is shaky, to say the least, he could lose his job anytime between now and the end of the season, while a drive next year looks a tough ask for the under-performing Belgian, but his manager Alunni Bravi is sure his driver will be on the grid in 2019.
Speaking to RTBF at Vandoorne's home Belgian Grand Prix, Bravi said, "There are always rumours but I think there was too many this weekend, but this does not reflect the reality."
"Stoffel is a McLaren driver in 2018 and he will be with them until the end of the season, that's for sure," insisted Bravi amid speculation that Vandoorne will make way for Esteban Ocon or Lando Norris before the year is over.
With regards to next season, Bravi said, "Many drivers are talking with teams exploring opportunities and the same is true for us, we want Stoffel to be in a good car. He has to focus on his work."
"I'm looking at all the options. McLaren is our priority but if the team is not a good option for next year, we will take a look at other options that are there for Stoffel."
"He's a super professional guy who handles the pressure, he's calm but that doesn't mean he is not aggressive. I give him a 100 percent chance to be in Formula 1 next year.
"I don't have a guarantee, but he is still one of the youngest drivers in the paddock and this is all something agreed by McLaren and many other teams," added Bravi.
The Silly Season is living up to its name, this year is unique in that drivers may swap cockpits as early as this weekend at Monza!
Lance Stroll joining his father's team (Racing Point) Force India, would spark a round of musical chairs. Williams may give Robert Kubica the nod unless Mercedes can strike a deal to seat their driver with the Merc powered team.
When, where and if this all happens depends on how the Stroll situation develops over the next few days or weeks. Smart money is on Stroll being in a pink car if not at this weekend's Italian Grand Prix then by Singapore.
Failing a Williams solution for Ocon, Mercedes are reportedly looking to place the Frenchman at McLaren and thus oust Vandoorne.
For the likeable Belgian driver, his two years with McLaren have been underwhelming, to say the least. He has been totally outperformed by teammate Fernando Alonso while struggling with the miserable MCL33 coupled to all the disadvantages of being up against the veteran Spaniard.
Big Question: Does Stoffel deserve another year in F1?
