Kyle.Engineers delivers another video analyzing the aerodynamics secrets of a 2023 Formula 1 car, this time the Mercedes W14 produced by his former employers Mercedes.
For the second time this season, a newly launched F1 car looks similar to its predecessor, the first being the 2023 Ferrari SF-23,
but as he did with the Ferrari, Kyle delves into the W14 and finds that despite some similarities with the W13, much has changed in the "Black Arrow".
Kyle said: "Another car that looks very similar to last year at first glance, the Mercedes W14 is actually packed with interesting, aggressive aerodynamic details."
Mercedes will hoping that the W14 takes nothing from the Silver Car that preceded it, which was a bouncing nightmare for the team and their two drivers Lewis Hamilton and George Russell.
The differences start with the color, as the eight-time F1 Constructors' Champions returned to a black livery that work well with the areas on the W14's bodywork that are just exposed carbon fiber for weight control purposes.
Furthermore, Mercedes have stuck to their radical slim side pods design which they debuted back in 2022, as they still believe in its potential, which they hope to unlock after sorting out the problems of last year.
Toto Wolff was adamant the problems that marred the W13 were not caused by the "zeropod" design.
"Our sidepod design is not something that we believe was fundamentally the reason why we didn't perform," the Austrian said in the W14's launch event.
Mercedes gave the W14 a shakedown at Silverstone with the next stop being in Bahrain for the three-day pre-season test between February 23 and 25.
