Jean Todt remains one of the few individuals who regularly visits Michael Schumacher, whose health condition has remained largely private since his skiing accident in December 2013.

The former Ferrari team principal has reiterated that 56-year-old Schumacher has been an integral part of Todt's life since their time together in Formula 1. And in over a decade, the Frenchman is one of the privileged few who has direct access to the German legend.
Schumacher’s family has maintained strict privacy regarding his condition, but details emerged during a trial in Germany last December. A prosecutor in the case stated that Schumacher is "partially helpless, in need of care, and visibly marked by his injuries."
The trial was linked to an alleged blackmail attempt against Schumacher’s family, where threats were made to publish images and videos of the former driver’s current state. Despite the intense media interest in Schumacher’s condition, Todt has consistently supported the family’s decision to keep his health status confidential.
Todt reaffirmed his close relationship with Schumacher and his family: “I see him and his family regularly and with affection. Our bond goes beyond past work. It’s part of my life, which is now very far from Formula 1.”
The former FIA president has also defended the family’s relentless stance on privacy regarding Schumi and his condition: “The family has decided not to answer the question, a choice that I respect.”
Todt previously revealed in 2022 that he and Schumacher used to watch Formula 1 races together, reflecting the deep friendship they share beyond their time in motorsport. While details of Schumacher’s condition remain undisclosed, Todt’s commitment to his friend highlights the enduring connection between the two.
