Sebastian Vettel set the pace with a blistering lap during the final free practice session of the Hungarian Grand Prix with teammate Kimi Raikkonen second best, suggesting that Ferrari are peaking at the right time while Mercedes drivers appeared to struggle.
Vettel's best time of 1:17017 was the fastest lap of the Hungaroring ever, and notably a whopping 1.4 seconds faster than his title rival Lewis Hamilton who ended the one hour session fifth on the timing screens.
Raikkonen was nearly half a second down on Vettel's best, with Valtteri Bottas third fastest in the Mercedes albeit nine tenths down on the top time.
Over a second down on the pace setting Ferrari was Red Bull's Max Verstappen in fourth at a track which seems to suit the RB13.
However it was not a good session for his teammate Daniel Ricciardo who was forced to park his car with a hydraulic issue after half an hour. The Australian only managed seven laps, but still managed to set the eighth best lap time. A day earlier he dominated both sessions.
Stoffel Vandoorne impressed with the sixth best lap time in the McLaren, three tenths up on his teammate Fernando Alonso who was ninth fastest in the sister car.
Nico Hulkenberg continued to fly the flag for Renault on his way to setting the seventh best time, with Jolyon Palmer putting behind him a problem packed Friday to end the session in tenth.
The big talking point during the session was about unwell Felipe Massa who was cleared to practice by the FIA after being hospitalised with a bug after FP2 on Friday. The Brazilian veteran did some laps but appeared uncomfortable.
Meanwhile (at time of writing) the team's reserve Paul di Resta was seen in the Williams garage while mechanics appeared to be adjusting the seating position and pedals. Watch this space.
