After much speculation Sergio Perez finally confirmed he will remain with Force India for at least another year, this development now has triggered reports that Nico Hulkenberg may leave the team to join Renault in 2017.
Perez was linked to the French team for the past few months, but now his teammate is apparently on the team's radar.
Renault have requested that Kevin Magnussen accept a two week delay on his contract extension option with the team, which he has agreed to, suggesting that negotiations are going on behind closed doors.
Reportedly Esteban Ocon had until the end of September to take up an offer to drive for the team and although no details have been forthcoming, however the smart money is that the highly rated young Frenchman will be driving for the team next season.
Should the Hulkenberg deal happen, then both Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer will be looking for race seats elsewhere.
Talk of Force India financial woes have been downplayed by the team's management, while Hulkenberg is not saying much
"Rumours are rumours and facts are facts," he told journalists in the Suzuka paddock."
But when asked if he would definitely be driving for the team in 2017 he replied, "Yes, I think so. Although we are a private team, it is very professional with excellent staff and I love being a part of it."
GMM report of a deal being thrashed out which will see Renault pay a 'transfer fee' for Hulkenberg, freeing up a seat in the team which would then put Pascal Wehrlein in the frame to move from Manor.
This would all depend on Mercedes funding and striking a deal with Force India, Wehrlein explained to DPA, "Mercedes will do the talks for me. If there are several options, we will decide together."
"The contracts of other drivers interests me much less than my own," replied Wehrlein when asked about Hulkenberg's possible deal with Renault.
