Red Bull junior driver Dan Ticktum kicked a hornet's nest when he suggested that Mick Schumacher's Prema Theodore Racing team had inexplicably found extra pace in the European Formula 3 championship.
Schumacher, son of F1 legend Michael, has had a great run of five wins in six races and has overtaken Ticktum in the championship standings, looking string to claim his first title.
the 19-year-old took to social media with his 'complaints' and created a storm with his "My name is not Schumacher" quip which did not go unnoticed by his paymasters at Red Bull.
When asked about Ticktum, team chief Christian Horner told Sky F1 in Sochi, “He's a character. He sometimes engages mouth before brain."
"He's a talented driver but he has more development to do before he is anywhere near Formula 1 level. He's fast but he needs to polish off a few of the rough edges.”
“In Formula 3 Mick Schumacher is doing a great job. He has been particularly dominant, they've obviously got it together the second half of the season and he is the man to beat,” acknowledged Horner.
