Lewis Hamilton has gone full circle, in December last year he berated his nephew on social media for wearing princess clothing for which he immediately apologised, but now six months later the four-time Formula 1 World Champion has publically repented for actions by himself posing wearing skirts.
In the August edition of
GQ fashion magazine, Hamilton is pictured posing in several kilts and skirts which, by all accounts, is his way of full atoning for his ill-advised comments when he mocked his nephew on social media last year.
GQ posted on their Instagram:
In December, shortly after his 'offensive' post, Hamilton apologised: “I love that my nephew feels free to express himself, as we all should. My deepest apologies for my behaviour, as I realise it is really not acceptable for anyone, no matter where you are from, to marginalise or stereotype anyone... I have always been in support of anyone living their life exactly how they wish and I hope I can be forgiven for this lapse in judgement.”
Needless to say, the video went viral and Hamilton went into self-imposed social media exile, wiping his accounts in the process and thereafter keeping silent for a month or so before resuming his posts and Tweets.
His latest shoot with GQ can be interpreted as Hamilton's final salvo to put things right between himself and his nephew while sending a loud and clear message regarding his stance on the issue.
