Pierre Gasly has set the target he believes is achievable for Alpine in the 2025 Formula 1 season, and that is fifth in the constructors' championship.

Gasly us gearing up for his third season as an Alpine F1 driver, and will have a new teammate in the form of rookie Jack Doohan who replaced Esteban Ocon, the latter now a Haas driver.
Together, Gasly and Ocon played a vital role in Alpine's sixth-place finish in the 2024 F1 constructors' championship after finishing third and second, respectively, in the 2024 Sao Paulo Grand Prix, a race won by Max Verstappen in treacherous wet conditions.
The race in Brazil and Alpine's final sixth place was a major boost for the team that started 2024 massively behind with an overweight car, which, along with their chronically underpowered engine, spelled trouble for the French outfit.
To make matters more complex, Flavio Briatore joined as Executive Advisor, and started a major upheaval which saw Bruno Famin ousted as team principal with Oliver Oakes replacing him in the hot seat.
Under Briatore's watch, Alpine have decided to drop their Renault power unit and will become Mercedes customers from 2026 onwards in time with the new F1 regulation change.
But for now, it seems the situation within Alpine has calmed down, and Gasly is full of confidence in terms of what the team can achieve in the 2025 F1 constructors' championship.
Gasly told Motorsport.com: "I'll go with a top five in the constructors', because that's what I want, and I think that's definitely achievable.
"Obviously, deep inside me, I'd like more than that, but I've got to be objective and know that it's going to be a tight field, a competitive field, and I don't expect massive change compared to last year," he added.
Gasly's target is one position better than the target set by Briatore, who is targeting a championship challenge by 2027.
While Gasly will have Doohan as his garage partner in 2025, the highly rated Franco Colapinto was signed as a reserve driver as a plan B if Doohan does not deliver the performance Alpine requires of him.
