Toro Rosso rookie Pierre Gasly was reprimanded by race stewards during the first free practice session of the Japanese Grand Prix weekend at Suzuka.
The Frenchman was dawdling on the racing line as he approached through final chicane when Lewis Hamilton sped through 130R, foot flat, he had to swerve his Mercedes to avoid making contact with the Toro Rosso, the world champ locking up in the process.
Stewards investigated and ruled: "Alleged breach of Article 31.5 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations, car 10 driving unnecessarily slowly and impeding car 44 in turn 16.
Pierre Gasly has been reprimanded for forcing Formula 1 points leader Lewis Hamilton into evasive action during the first Japanese Grand Prix practice session.
Gasly was entering the final chicane slowly as Hamilton rounded 130R at full speed and caught the Toro Rosso still on the racing line.
Hamilton topped the 90-minute morning FP1 session, while Gasly went on to claim 11th on the timesheets.
