Cherished Italian F1 journalist Leo Turrini, whose as close to being a Ferrari insider as a scribe can be, has revealed internal staffing changes at Maranello in the wake of the recent leadership changes as they prepare for the new season.
Much has changed at the Scuderia this winter with Mattia Binotto replacing Maurizio Arrivabene at the helm of the sport's most famous racing team.
With young Charles Leclerc stepping up to partner Sebastian Vettel, the team has tweaked the manpower to lead them in the season ahead.
Turrrini wrote on a recent entry in the Profondo Rosso blog: "The structure of the team will have Mekies in charge of the garage, [Riccardo] Adami will continue to work with Vettel and Jock Clear will run Charlie Leclerc. There will also be changes with regards to track operations."
He added: "The new Ferrari is not beautiful. If you do not trust me (and I understand) trust the Old Man [Enzo Ferrari] who with rough simplicity said: a racing car is beautiful only when it wins! So, let's wait for the victories."
The atmosphere in the factory is full of hope. But you will not find anyone, from Camilleri down, through Binotto, who will dare to say: we are the strongest. For the obvious reason that no such certainty is possessed by anyone.
"For sure (and it has already been said) the simulator data is encouraging. And let's stop here. As for the rest, what do I tell you to do? Wait and see..."
Mekies and Adami worked alongside Vettel during his rookie season with Toro Rosso, the pair were in his corner when he scored his famous first Grand Prix victory at Monza in 2008.
Ferrari will unveil their new car on 15 February, before F1 preseason testing begins in Barcelona on 18 February.
