How the tide has turned! After the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, where Max Verstappen reignited his title challenge and Oscar Piastri cracked under pressure with a first-lap crash.

Even more ominous for the Australian is that a new data study predicts that his McLaren teammate, Lando Norris, will ultimately emerge as the 2025 Formula 1 World Champion and beat Piastri to the title.
Analysis by AskGamblers of past performances at the seven remaining circuits and three sprints suggests Norris will outscore his McLaren teammate by 30 points across the run-in, overturning Piastri’s current advantage.
The forecast estimates Norris will collect 113 points from the remaining events, compared to only 58 for Piastri. That would leave the Briton on 412 points by Abu Dhabi, against 382 for the Australian.
The study found Norris to be consistently stronger at the circuits still to come. Across the last two seasons he has averaged 13.3 points per race at Singapore, Austin, Mexico, Brazil, Las Vegas, Qatar and Abu Dhabi. Piastri averaged just 6.6.
Norris also holds the edge in sprint form, scoring 6.5 points on average at Austin, Brazil and Qatar compared to 3.8 for Piastri.
With Verstappen closing the gap after Baku, the pressure is mounting inside McLaren. But if the trends hold true, Norris is on course to secure his maiden F1 World Championship title at the season-finale in Abu Dhabi, or before.
