McLaren may have absolutely dominated in Miami, but the chaotic nature of the race weekend as a whole led to many surprise high-point scorers in this week’s F1 Fantasy league.

Piastri’s ruthlessly efficient win at the 2025 Miami Grand Prix was rewarded handsomely, with the Aussie picking up 58 fantasy points, three more than teammate and title rival Lando Norris.
However, it was Lewis Hamilton’s sprint fightback podium, as well as solid weekends from Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda and Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll, that saw each score season-high points tallies. Just to remind you, GrandPrix247 has been following F1 Fantasy all season long. We’re even running our own fantasy league. It’s not too late to join us either—you can sign up here.
Now, let’s take a closer look at the highs (and lows) of this week’s sprint weekend in The Magic City.

Topsy-turvy weekend tips the balance

Another extremely solid weekend from George Russell saw the Mercedes man rack up 30 more fantasy points. Okay, he needed a stroke of luck to steal third from Max Verstappen under the VSC, but he was more than worthy of a chunky points return on another strong day at the office.
For once, Ferrari’s bold strategy call worked in the Sprint. Calling Hamilton in for a set of soft tires worked a treat in mixed conditions, and his fightback saw him rewarded with a podium (and 32 fantasy points). After a tricky few races battling with the Red Bull, Tsunoda also scored an impressive 33 points, while Stroll scored a scarcely believable 25 points.
It may be hard to fathom, but the unfancied Canadian now has a whopping 68 points for the season. That may not sound like much, but at 9.7 million in-game dollars, he’s actually a bit of a bargain. Only 10% of players saw it coming—fair play to anyone who predicted Stroll being a fantasy steal!
Other high scorers this week included Alex Albon (19 points), who momentarily looked on for a podium charge, only to settle for P5 in the main grand prix. Pierre Gasly also recovered from a dreadful race in Saudi (-17) to pick up a very respectable 18 points, despite finishing 13th.

Surprise low-scorers in an unusually wet Miami

Horner on Verstappen Sprint pit incident: It was human error
Of this week’s F1 Fantasy flops, the biggest surprise was Max Verstappen. With 12 points, the Dutchman had by far his worst fantasy weekend of the season. He lost many positions in both races—mostly via the penalty he received in the Sprint—which ultimately cost him under the late safety car.
Ollie Bearman also capped off a tricky weekend with an engine failure in the main race, which saw him score -4 points. Charles Leclerc’s off on the way to the Sprint grid was similarly painful for the Monagasque. Despite fighting with his high-scoring teammate for much of the full-distance grand prix, his Sprint DNS dropped him to -8 points.
Isack Hadjar, who has been one of the stars of this season to date, failed to make as big an impact this weekend, scoring a flat zero. Gabriel Bortoleto’s haul (-11) was similarly lackluster, despite teammate Nico Hulkenberg nearly dragging his Sauber into the Sprint points. The less said about Liam Lawson and Jack Doohan’s weekends, the better, really.
Both drivers scored -14 points, not ideal when one has already been dropped to the junior team and the other looked set to lose his F1 seat to Franco Colapinto.

Zinzan’s No. 1 Army held on to the top spot in this week’s GP247 F1 Fantasy league after using the game’s limitless chip to pick Verstappen, Norris, and Piastri.
Team Unsafe Release also had a strong weekend, gambling all their in-game currency on Piastri—which proved a wise choice.
Other previous leading teams like Papaya and Weiner Takes All also stayed in contention, meaning that just one surprise race winner could change the balance at the top of the standings.
Don’t forget that F1 Fantasy is free to join and offers players the chance to win some pretty hefty prizes (and bragging rights) between now and the end of the season.
There’s still time to register; you can sign up for the GP247 F1 Fantasy league here.
