The Dutch Formula 1 Grand Prix will go ahead as planned on September 5 if stands are allowed to be filled at two thirds of their original capacity, organisers said on Friday.
F1 is set to return to the Zandvoort circuit in the dunes west of Amsterdam for the first time since 1985 next month, but organisers have warned of financial problems if the number of fans are limited due to coronavirus measures.
Fan interest is likely to be high, with Max Verstappen currently second in the championship. The 23-year-old attracted large Dutch crowds at the Austrian Grand Prix earlier this season, which he won in dominant fashion.
The race had been scheduled to return to the calendar last year, but was cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
