Toro Rosso have made light of Honda's critics with a tongue in cheek press release to mark the team's new engine successfully firing up.
After three embarrassing years with McLaren, Honda will this year power Toro Rosso with many critics expecting the worst for the Red Bull-owned team in their first season together.
Toro Rosso chief Franz Tost has only good things to say about the partnership, believing that his team can be best of the rest and targeting fourth ahead of the 2018 season.
On Valentine's Day the team released a spoof video on Twitter to commemorate the 'love match' between the new STR13 chassis and Honda's RA618H F1 power unit.
Anticipating sarcastic questions they then went on to post the following 'press release':
For both Toro Rosso and Honda the partnership marks the beginning of important new eras whereby the Japanese manufacturer can redeem themselves and within the organisation there is a desire to prove McLaren wrong in their decision to part ways.
Toro Rosso, as Red Bull's junior team, have access to an exclusive manufacturer with deep pockets for this project. If all goes well and Honda produces a competitive engine, it may see the senior team turn to Honda power and once and for all end the fractious existence they have with Renault.
The 2018 Toro Rosso-Honda STR13 will be unveiled on February 26 just ahead the first day of preseason testing in Barcelona later this month.
