Former Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner returned to the Formula 1 paddock in Silverstone on Sunday, hours before the start of the 2026 British Grand Prix.

The Briton was fired from his role as Red Bull Racing CEO and Team Principal at the same weekend back in 2025 after a run of poor results, which also followed the sexting scandal he was involved with with a female colleague one year earlier.
While Horner was acquitted from the scandal, Red Bull Racing did not seem to recover after that with internal power struggles involving him as well as Max Verstappen and his father Jos, in addition to former Red Bull motorsport advisor Dr. Helmut Marko, who also left at the end of the 2025 season.
Horner has spent around twenty years with Red Bull Racing delivering eight drivers' championships and seven constructors' crowns.
He agreed to a massive severance package, estimated at around $100 million, and has been away from the F1 paddock physically since then, but he was the subject of many rumors and speculations that linked him with several teams like Ferrari, Aston Martin, and even Alpine, while he was also linked to Chinese car manufacturer BYD over a potential F1 project.
Horner is rumored to be in the paddock to promote his memoirs and has gone on the record several times claiming he had unfinished business within F1.
Upon his arrival in Silverstone on Friday, Horner told Sky Sports F1: "It's great to be back here at Silverstone.
"Ultimately I'm a fan, and the British Grand Prix is in town. I've not missed one since '93, so it's good to be here.
"I've enjoyed my time out," the 52-year-old went on. "I did 20 years straight with Red Bull guys.
"I was obviously doing other stuff before that, so it's the first time I've ever had a bit of time to get off the hamster wheel.
"But for me, I'd only look at doing the right thing, something that really had an opportunity to win at the end of the day," Horner added.
Asked about the BYD report, he commented: "The great thing is that Formula 1 is in such a great place, and the racing's been super this year.
"Stepping back and watching it from behind the scenes, the interest in Formula 1 is sky-high. So there's so much interest from people who want to get involved in Formula 1. We'll see. I'm in no rush.
"BYD. Huge entity, huge, huge, huge company. But there has been so much speculation. I think I've been [linked] to every team on the grid so far, so I'm just here to enjoy the racing," Horner concluded.
