Jenson Button, the 2009 Formula 1 Champion turned pundit, like many doesn't seem to be able to get his head around the new name for AlphaTauri, Visa Cash App RB F1 Team.

The latest rebranding of the Red Bull Racing junior team has caused quite a stir in the F1 community, a cumbersome name that probably came after a subpar marketing effort, something we are not used to seeing from a company like Red Bull.
Button, now gearing up for his Rolex 24 Daytona debut this weekend, and was asked about his thoughts on the new name for AlphaTauri, Visa Cash App RB F1 Team.
"What is the new name?" he asked The Associated Press, when the subject was brought to his attention.
"Visa Cash App... what comes after that? So it is Visa. Cash App. RB. What?" the Briton added struggling to remember the name.
One of the things many are talking about is what will the commentators use as a short name for the new team, with "VCARB" being a popular suggestion, but Button who is an F1 commentator on Sky Sports F1 is not bothered.
"Exactly what we're told to call it," was Button's response when asked what name he would use in the commentary box when referring to Visa Cash App RB F1 Team.

Any publicity is good publicity

And while many are criticizing Red Bull for the new name they have chosen for their Faenza-based F1 operation, Button insists it is not all doom and gloom, as the fact that people are talking about it is a good thing.
"People are talking about it, right?. So that's good. It's obviously worked in getting people to talk about it," the retired F1 driver insisted.
This is the second rebranding the Faenza F1 Team has undergone under Red Bull's ownership. The late Dietrich Mateschitz bought the team when it was still struggling as Minardi back in 2005 and renamed it Scuderia Toro Rosso for 2006.
It then became the junior team for Red Bull Racing, where all the drivers in their junior program given their break before being promoted to the main team.
The team saw the likes of Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo, Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz developed into F1 drivers, Vettel winning the team's first race at Monza in 2008 starting from pole.
In 2020, the team was rebranded to Scuderia AlphaTauri in an effort from Red Bull to market and give exposure to their fashion brand "AlphaTauri" an exercise that clearly failed.
Under the AlphaTauri moniker, the team won another race in 2020 at Monza as well with Pierre Gasly at the wheel.
The end of the 2023 F1 season saw the team's long serving boss Franz Tost retire and replaced by a dual management structure made up of CEO Peter Bayer, a former FIA man, as well as former FIA and Ferrari man Laurent Mekies who took over the role of team boss.
