McLaren Racing will make motorsport history in December by auctioning off three future competition cars before they have even turned a wheel in official racing.

In partnership with RM Sotheby’s, the sale will take place in Abu Dhabi on 5 December, during the 2025 Formula 1 season finale weekend, and will feature a Formula 1, IndyCar and Le Mans Hypercar from McLaren’s upcoming campaigns.
Zak Brown, CEO, McLaren Racing, said: "This auction is an extraordinary opportunity to own a piece of racing history and bid for a car that has competed on track before its official launch. "The Triple Crown is a huge part of our heritage and we are determined to claim it once again as we prepare for our 2027 entry into the World Endurance Championship.
"Not only that, these incredible cars will come with unprecedented VIP access to the team and action on track," added the American, who himself has a famed race car collection.

In a first for the sport, the auction will see a future Formula 1 car sold publicly ahead of its debut season. The 2026 McLaren F1 entry, a 2026 NTT Indycar Series car, and McLaren’s first-ever FIA World Endurance Championship challenger for 2027 will all be offered, with successful bidders taking delivery after the cars have competed.
The move is part of McLaren’s push to reclaim the prestigious Triple Crown – victory in the Monaco Grand Prix, Indianapolis 500 and Le Mans 24 Hours. McLaren remains the only team to have achieved all three, with wins at Indy in 1976, Monaco in 1984, and Le Mans at its first attempt in 1995.
Brown revealed the auction at Monterey Car Week in California, where McLaren Formula 1 and Arrow McLaren IndyCar show cars were on display.
Alongside its Formula 1 operation with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, McLaren fields entries in IndyCar with Pato O’Ward, Nolan Siegel and Christian Lundgaard, as well as in Formula E (final year), F1 Academy and the F1 Sim Racing Championship.
