Ten-time Grand Prix winner and former Ferrari driver Gerhard Berger believes the Reds are favourites for success this season.

Lewis Hamilton's arrival at Maranello has been one of the most significant driver market moves in recent years. According to Berger, the seven-time F1 world champion's decision was likely driven by the need for a fresh challenge at Ferrari.
Speaking to MotoriOnline, Berger said of the Hamilton to Ferrari move: "Mercedes had become competitive only intermittently, and after so many years with the same team, he needed a change. This move could help him return to his best form.
"Although he will have to contend with Leclerc’s speed. Seeing him win the title in red, in any case, would be the biggest marketing event in Formula 1 history," added Berger.
Regarding the 2025 F1 season ahead, the 65-year-old Austrian was adamant: "This season, I would bet everything on Ferrari. I can't say whether Hamilton or Leclerc will win the title or whether they will triumph in the Drivers' or Constructors' Championship, but they will win a championship."

Berger: Vasseur is calm, thoughtful, and determined

Berger, whose F1 career included spells at Ferrari and Benneton, ventured: "Ferrari have closed the gap to their rivals and now have a competitive technical package, both in terms of engine and chassis. Furthermore, they can count on two top-level drivers."
He also praised Frederic Vasseur, acknowledging the work done by Ferrari’s team principal since his arrival: "I find him calm, thoughtful, and determined. He has always successfully completed the projects he has undertaken.
"Hiring him was the right decision, but it was clear that time would be needed to achieve results. Hamilton's signing is an extraordinary move, and I believe Vasseur will be able to bring Ferrari back to the top," predicted Berger who spent three seasons at Ferrari, winning five times for the Scuderia.
The 2025 Formula 1 season is set to begin with a packed schedule of key events leading up to the opening race. Pre-season testing will take place in Bahrain from 26–28 February, giving teams their first official chance to evaluate their new cars on track.
This will be preceded by car and livery launches throughout February - including the F1 75 team presentation event at O2 arena on the 18th. The first Grand Prix of the year takes place in Melbourne, Australia, on 16 March, marking the return of Albert Park as the season opener.
