Fernando Alonso has been itching to get behind the wheel of the all-new McLaren MCL33 and was the first of the team's two drivers to take to the track in Navarra, reuniting him with Renault who powered him to his two Formula 1 World Championships.
Speaking of the car he hopes will end three years of pain, Alonso said, "Looking at our new car, I feel incredibly excited โ but also apprehensive. I know just how important this car is to the team, and I just hope that it delivers in the way we all want it to."
"If weโre able to develop the key strengths of last yearโs chassis and marry it to an improved Renault power unit, then I think weโll be able to take a step forwards. The car certainly looks very neat and well thought-out, and I think the new colour looks really great; really eye-catching."
โI just want to get behind the wheel now!โ added Alonso before jumping into the bright orange MCL33 and firing up the Renault power unit for the car's first laps.
