It was an unexpected 6:00 am wake up for McLaren driver Fernando Alonso when officials of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) visited the Spaniard without notice to do an anti-doping test.
WADA doping officers can present themselves at any time and any place, without notice, wherever the athlete may be staying. Professional sports people are obliged to inform the agency of their precise whereabouts in the world at any given time.
Earlier this week Alonso was testing with Toyota at Portimao (southern Portugal) as he integrates into the team and prepares for his WEC campaign which will include his debut at the Le Mans 24 Hours this year.
